When Should I Call My Child Out?
There will be occasions when your child is ill and should not attend school. It is important to keep sick children home to allow them to rest and recover, as well as to prevent transmission of illness to other students and school staff.
Please do not send your child to school if he/she is showing signs of illness - Keep Your Child Home and Contact their School Nurse to discuss your particular situation. Children should not be given medication to lower a fever prior to school.
If your child is showing signs of Respiratory Illness, Please Do Not Send Them to School. Signs of Covid/Covid-Like Illness can include: Cough, fever (Temperature 100.2F / 37.8C), sore throat, fatigue, dizziness, gastro-intestinal symptoms such as vomiting/diarrhea, headache, body aches.
As a general rule, students should remain home until they are well enough to attend school. This includes: Fever-Free for a full day without the use of fever-reducing medication prior to return; Resolution of Gastro-Intestinal symptoms (vomiting/diarrhea) for a full day; Able to tolerate their diet and fluids.
Please note: if your child is returning to school and requires the use of assistive medical equipment (i.e.: splints/cast, crutches, orthopedic boot) - A Note from the treating provider is required. The note should also include any accommodation if medically required.
Please be in touch with your child's school nurse with any questions or concerns.
